The Basics

Water is delivered to the property directly from the registered take-off point on the Klein Waterkloof river via a 200mm Class 6 underground pipe.

While the property has confirmed water rights for 24 800 cbm/annum, access to water is controlled under the Vanderwyverskloof Lei Water scheme which has agreed water turns amongst all water users on this source. Under this scheme the property is allocated 19hrs of water every two week over two water turns.

  • Week 1 – Monday 20h00 to Tuesday 05h00
  • Week 2 – Tuesday 20h00 to Wednesday 06h00

The weeks follow the weeks of the year. Odd weeks of the year are Week 1 and even weeks of the year are Week 2.

Cost of water per year: +-R1150

Mac Dam

Water to the dam is supplied directly from the main 200mm supply pipe via a 110mm underground pipe. This is controlled via a 200mm butterfly valve just below the main house.

The dam can also be filled via the open sloot, although there is no formal sluice system in place.

There is a known leak on the south eastern corner of the dam wall approximately 1/5 of the depth from the top.

Garden Irrigation

The garden around the main house has a manual multi-zone irrigation system. Zones are controlled via easily accessible valves in the 3 separate locations around the house. The garden is watered from the 3x 5000L tanks which also supply water to the house.
