As a passion project, we renovated an old cottage in keeping with the charm and character of the Klein Karoo, and because of the valley’s profound natural beauty, we aimed to ensure an effortless flow and balance between indoor and outdoor living.

  • 200 litre Xstream Indirect solar-electric geyser (can switch between solar and electrical power)
  • 3 x 5000 litres water tanks on the hill to supply water to household and garden. Tanks pressure-filled during water turns.
  • 2 x 1000 litre water tanks connected to the house roof catchment for additional garden or general use (currently accessed via taps and not formally connected to any household or garden system)
  • Mature water-wise garden manually irrigated via a zoned watering system
